The Place
On a
quiet street in Torrington, Connecticut, is an historic church, just
minutes from downtown. It is here that a bit of old Paris has been
recreated as Studio 59, a performance gallery. Owner and founder
Timothy Alexandre Wallace has transformed this quaint old church into a
setting reminiscent of an Eighteenth Century European drawing room,
complete with comfortable wing-back and parlor chairs.
The centerpiece is a magnificent German Steinway concert grand piano
with a breathtakingly rich and clear sound. Take a step back in time
and place to enjoy private concerts, presentations of works of art,
poetry readings and other special events that embrace the elegant
ambiance of a long forgotten era.

- From the press:
Stepping into Tim Wallace's Studio 59, in a
converted church on Barber Street, feels like dropping into another
era.
The airy space, framed by soaring arched ceilings, is packed
with eclectic antiques and Tiffany-style lamps. Victorian tapestries
offset cupid statues suspended on the wall above the front door.
Candlelight licks neoclassical figurines perched behind nearly every
piece of furniture.
It's a space meant to invoke an 18th-century drawing room, a hub
of classical music in homes ..... and is the product of a 25-year
dream.
Wallace, a charming host with a soothing voice and genteel
manner, puts visitors at ease, serving refreshments and urging patrons
to look around.
Each show offers themes. "Winds of Change" was a
recent motif, and the program was complemented with original poetry set
to improvised music performed by Wallace, a soprano and
clarinetist. Wallace is sublimely focused as he follows the cues
of the soprano and clarinet.
